It’s time to get started.  No, it’s not too early.  So, start on your art work.  If you are not yet a member of the Guild, now is the time to join.  Get involved.  It’s fun!

The judge for the Hammond Art Guild Spring 2013 Show has been selected.  We are pleased and honored to have Dale Newkirk to judge our show.  Dale Newkirk's website is dalenewkirk.com .

Dale Newkirk received his Master of fine Arts degree in sculpture from The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio in 1984 and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and sculpture from Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1982.

          Mr. Newkirk’s artwork as been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad. There have been twenty-three one-person exhibitions of his artwork since 1985 and his work has been included in over fifty group exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include: 2010, A one-person exhibition of drawings the Ameen Gallery, Nicholls State University in Thibodaux Louisiana, 2010, Details: Works on Paper, Cole Pratt Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana, 2009, Fragile Bodies at Northern Kentucky University, 2008, one – person show at Cole Pratt Gallery, New Orleans, 2008, Brunner Gallery Covington Louisiana, 2008, Southeastern Exhibition at Mobile Museum of Art, Mobil Alabama, 2007 Texas National Exhibition at Stephan F. Austin University, the 2006 Southeastern Exhibition at the Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile Alabama,Liberty and Security in a Post 9/11 World at the Pool Art Center of Drury University in Springfield Missouri and In Recovery, Northern Kentucky University Art Gallery, Highland Heights, Kentucky.

          Professor Newkirk has taught at New Mexico State University and Indiana University and is currently a Professor of Visual Arts and the Director of the Southeastern Contemporary Art Gallery at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond Louisiana.

          Mr. Newkirk is also a martial artist with a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a certified instructor in the art.
